FRESNO COUNTY: Raymond Guido sentenced to life without parole for the robbery and murder of Luis Castillo

On February 8, 2024, Raymond Guido, (32, of Fresno) was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole for the robbery and murder of Luis Castillo (40, of Fresno).


The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Jonathan Conklin of the Fresno Superior Court after a Fresno County jury found Guido guilty at his trial which concluded on November 28, 2023.


On December 30, 2022, officers with the Fresno Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex at Thomas and Jackson Avenues regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Luis Castillo suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Castillo was administered medical aid, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Mr. Castillo was a Mexican national who came to Fresno to work and provide for his family that still resides in Mexico. Mr. Castillo had been living with his sister in Fresno for less than 3 months when Guido robbed and murdered him.


At the time of the murder, Guido had been on parole for just 4 months for an assault with a semi-automatic firearm. Guido served just 2 years and 4 months of a 6-year state prison sentence. In addition to the prior assault, Guido has multiple prior convictions for other firearm and weapons offenses.
