Fresno leaders from throughout the county peacefully addressed the potential negative outcomes of the Chauvin verdict concerning the murder of George Floyd last spring in Minnesota. Each leader spoke about the need for unity during this time and empathy of African-Americans, as emotions and anxieties are high among many, due to the controversial murder of Mr. Floyd.
Pastor B.T. Lewis of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church led the press conference from the perspective of all African-Americans wanting justice, needing empathy and desiring change.
Mayor Jerry Dyer spoke about the easy skill of listening, the best way to learn and understand the shoes walked in by African-Americans and people of color who experience racism frequently.
