ONME News and community organizations prepare for tomorrows election forum; here is the schedule

Fresno's Black media and organizations have come together to help the community understand the local voting process, local candidates and more

By ONME Newswire

FRESNO, CALIF.--As ballots throughout California have just been mailed out across the state as of October 7, 2024, the local black media and local Black organizations are collaborating and beginning their 2024 Central Valley Community Elections Forums, starting October 9 and October 16 starting at 5:30 PM each night, (see October 9 schedule below.)

By ONME News partnering with local Black media, KOFP Radio 103.3 FM, and community partners, Black Women Organized for Political Action, Fresno/SJV Chapter (BWOPA); Black American Political Association of California, Fresno Chapter, (BAPAC); the NAACP #1038, Fresno Chapter and the African American Clergy Caucus, local candidates benefit due to a better representation of the Black community that is now spread throughout Fresno County. The non-partisan forums enable local and regional San Joaquin Valley candidates to address their hyper-local constituents who may be considered a hard-to-reach audience and/or an extremely niche audience.

Candidates will be introduced according to their office or current office they are seeking election/re-election.  Candidates will have time to share their key campaign initiatives, followed by a time for questions from representatives of the different Black organizations represented in the community collaboration.

The election forum will also provide key details regarding the voting process, local ballot measures, and state measures affecting key populations.

Fresno State political science professor, Dr. Thomas Holyoke, will assist in explaining some of the key state propositions and local ballot measures. Meanwhile, Dr. Daren Miller will explain the voting process in Fresno County. There will also be a voting registration booth for those who would like to register to vote by October 21.

As the forums can be watched live each night starting at 5:30 PM, PST, at www.onmenews.com or listen via radio through KOFP Radio 103.3 FM, in-person audience seating is limited and must be reserved online here for each event. Please note that this is a live broadcast with hard start and stop times

Each forum will be rebroadcast on TV, on radio, and online, (see schedule below.) People can call in or text their question for a candidate to: 559-242-6788.
